The North Shore Catholic Elementary School Basketball League was founded in 1975 and is a basketball league for boys and girls in grades 5 through 8 who are enrolled at the member schools.  The member schools are:

Immaculate Conception School - Newburyport, MA
Our Lady of the Assumption School - Lynnfield, MA
St. John the Baptist School - Peabody, MA
St. Mary of the Annunciation School - Danvers, MA
St. Pius V School - Lynn, MA

The Saints Academy - Beverly, MA

The purpose of the NSCESBL is to enhance the mission of our member schools by teaching children the game of basketball and giving them experience with teamwork and sportsmanship while developing their skills.  All coaching procedures, as well as every coach's conduct, reflect this purpose.

The league is comprised of four divisions;  a Boys Varsity division for boys in the 7th and 8th grades,  a Girls Varsity division for girls in the 7th and 8th grades, a Boys JV division for boys in the 5th and 6th grades, and a Girls JV division for girls in the 5th and 6th grades.

At the conclusion of the regular season, the two varsity level divisions have a playoff tournament.  The top four teams in the final standings in each division advance to the playoff tournament.  The semi-final games are between the 1st and 4th place teams and the 2nd and 3rd place teams.  The winners of each advance to the Boys and Girls Championship games.  At the the conclusion of the league playoffs, two Boys teams and two Girls teams will qualify for the diocesan tournament.  Those four teams will consist of the 1st place teams from the Boys Varsity division and the Girls Varsity division as well as the two playoff tournament winners.  If a team wins both the regular season and the playoff tournament, the second place team for the regular season will qualify as the second state tournament team from that division.

The NSCESBL offers an exciting and competitive basketball experience for over 400 boys and girls every year.  It is truly an inspiration to see these young people develop confidence and build character as they participate in this exciting activity.
